This is the Scoodle pitch deck to raise a $2m seed round in 2021.
About
Scoodle connects people who want to learn, with people that can teach. Students can ask questions on any subject, get answers from tutors and follow up by booking lessons or joining classes. The best tutors are not always accessible. They are changing that. They are building a world where an Arabic expert living in Egypt can create a class with students from around the world. The content that their tutors create on Scoodle lives forever. This will continue to benefit other students, long after the classes have ended.
Education startup Scoodle recently raised $2 million in a seed funding round backed by Google.
Cofounded in 2017 by chief exec and former Googler Ismail Jeilani, the firm aims to turn teachers into online influencers or — as Jeilani puts it himself — “the Kim Kardashians of education”.
The firm, which has previously been backed by the likes of Twitter cofounder Biz Stone, rode the remote education wave of COVID-19, with user numbers rising tenfold over the past year, according to Jeilani.
For the firm’s latest seed round, Jeilani and his cofounders, Imdad Ahad and Mujavid Bukhari, received backing from Google For Startups, the tech giant’s accelerator for aspiring entrepreneurs, alongside DA One Investment and IFG Ventures. Google invested as part of its Black Founders Fund, which recently allocated funding to 30 startups in Europe.
“Increasing access to quality education is one of the big opportunities that the tech sector provides,” said Rachael Palmer, head of VC and startup partnerships at Google’s EMEA division.
