About JP Morgan
About JP Morgan (Investment Banking M&A – Early 2025)
JP Morgan’s M&A franchise stands as a global powerhouse and a consistent leader within the elite bulge bracket investment banks. As of early 2025, operating within its Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), JP Morgan provides top-tier strategic M&A advice combined with unparalleled financing and capital markets capabilities, leveraging the immense scale and balance sheet of the largest US bank.
Its global reach is extensive, advising the world’s most prominent corporations, financial institutions, financial sponsors, and governments on their most critical and complex transactions.
|JP Morgan excels across virtually all industry sectors and transaction types, including large-scale domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and defense advisory. The seamless integration of advisory with leading debt and equity financing solutions is a core competitive advantage.
Rankings (2024 & Early 2025)
JP Morgan consistently occupies the very top spots in global M&A league tables, regularly competing for the #1 position.
- Global: For the full year 2024, JP Morgan typically ranked #1 or #2 globally by announced M&A deal value, according to major league table providers (LSEG, Bloomberg, Dealogic), in tight competition with rivals Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
- USA: The firm maintains a dominant M&A franchise in the crucial US market, consistently ranking #1 or #2 throughout 2024.
- Europe: JP Morgan possesses a premier European M&A practice, typically ranking within the Top 3 advisors in the region during 2024.
- Asia Pacific: Holds a leading M&A position in Asia Pacific, routinely ranking within the Top 3.
Early indications for 2025 show JP Morgan maintaining its formidable market position, leveraging its global platform and client relationships to secure key mandates.
Key Changes (2024 & Early 2025)
- Senior CIB Leadership Evolution: While Jamie Dimon provides overall leadership as Chairman & CEO, early 2024 saw adjustments within the Corporate & Investment Bank leadership. Following the departure of Daniel Pinto from the sole CIB head role (to become President & COO of the firm), Filippo Gori (previously head of APAC and EMEA Banking) and Doug Petno (head of the Commercial Bank) were appointed as Co-Heads of the global CIB. This provides leadership continuity but potentially brings fresh perspectives to the CIB’s strategic direction, including the M&A franchise operating within it. Vis Raghavan’s departure as Head of EMEA IB also led to internal appointments.
- Continued Emphasis on Integrated Platform: The core strategy throughout 2024 remained focused on leveraging the “fortress balance sheet” and the integrated platform – combining M&A advisory seamlessly with leading debt financing, equity underwriting, and treasury services.
- Technology Investment:Â Continued significant investment in technology across the CIB, aimed at enhancing efficiency, client delivery, and data analytics, indirectly supporting the M&A advisory function.
- No Major M&A-Related Acquisitions:Â JP Morgan’s growth in M&A advisory remained predominantly organic, focusing on market share gains and leveraging its existing scale, rather than acquiring advisory boutiques.
- Market Navigation:Â Successfully navigated the complex market environment of 2024, advising clients through economic uncertainty while capitalizing on opportunities across sectors and geographies, positioning itself strongly for any sustained rebound in deal activity.

About the Investment Banking Decks here
Investment banking presentations are rarely if ever, made public. When I was junior in M&A, it would have been so helpful to have access to see how banking decks were made and how other banks made them.
The issue is that they are never made available, so I set out to help you.
What you will find here
You will find 2-4 real M&A decks from one bank. They are in a fancy form of PDF you can open and go through (best on your computer). If you want to see more, there are options to purchase more access (which funds a little team of analysts to make updates).
If you want to see more, this is part of a collection of 67 free M&A presentations from the top 20 banks (based on ranking and also the quality of presentation for you to learn from).
Why the heck should you care?
Investment banks attracted the best and the brightest.
- Slide structure/design: Learn how complicated concepts are structured and designed in PowerPoint
- Analysis approach: See exactly how complex financial methods are presented
- Strategy and communication: M&A deals are not (normally, other than many Duff and Phelps decks) cookie-cutter. There’s a host of topics that need to be dealt with
- Morbid interest: I used to do this for a living, but it’s still interesting to see how PPT are made… but then maybe it’s just me and so FML 😉
Who this will help
- You want to work in banking: There are a lot of applicants. Knowing the job helps you answer questions
- You work in banking: Even if you’re an MD, you need to know how the best are structuring their thoughts/analysis
- You write presentations: You can’t buy learnings like this. You can learn from the slides
