Agora, an e-commerce beauty platform helping users monetize content, just raised $6.6 million in a funding round backed by Draper Espirit and Lakestar.
Launched earlier in 2020, London-based Agora allows beauty fans to monetize their talent by creating and sharing video content that links directly to products from their favourite beauty brands.
Cofounders Riccardo Basile and Elizabeth Craft Townsend-Rose previously founded e-commerce firm Lazada, which was bought by Alibaba in 2016 in a lucrative $1 billion acquisition.
As of April, Agora already had 50,000 registered users who have joined the app, with content creators having produced around the same number of videos.
The firm said it would use the new capital to scale social selling and build commerce features, allowing global and independent brands to launch flagship stores on the platform.
