Amperity pitch deck to raise $100m Series-D round

This is the Amperity pitch deck to raise a $100m series-d round in 2021. This is not the full deck, it’s just a few of the slides.

About

Amperity’s mission is to help people use data to serve the customer. They are revolutionizing the way companies connect, identify, and understand their customers by leveraging artificial intelligence to deliver a truly comprehensive and actionable Customer 360. This view improves marketing performance, fuels accurate customer insights, and enables world-class customer experiences. With Amperity, technical teams are freed from endless integration and data management, and business teams have direct access to the comprehensive data they need to build long-term customer loyalty and drive growth. Amperity serves many of the world’s most loved brands, including Alaska Airlines, Starbucks, The Gap Inc, Moët Hennessy USA, Wynn Resorts, Kendra Scott, Lucky Brand, Planet Fitness, Seattle Sounders, Stanley, and many more.

Amperity raised $100 million in its Series D round of funding from existing investors including Tiger Global Management, Declaration Partners, and Madrona Venture Group. The firm has raised a total of $187 million and claims to be valued at more than $1 billion.

Amperity sells software called consumer data platforms that clients like Starbucks, Patagonia, and Crocs use to manage stats from sales, email, e-commerce, and loyalty card programs.

Marketing cloud giants like Adobe, Salesforce, Twilio and startups like mParticle sell similar technology.

Kabir Shahani said the fundraise took six to eight weeks and credited Google, Apple and others’ moves to clamp down on third-party cookies with helping Amperity fundraise. He said the pandemic has also sped up how quickly brands invest in e-commerce and data.

“The need for a consumer business to have a first-party identity is more important now than it ever has been,” he said. “If these companies don’t get a view of their first-party customers and know who their customers are, they will have to rely on Facebook and Google.”

Amperity pitches its technology as having uses beyond advertising. Shahani estimated that 50% of the firm’s business comes from the digital or analytics side of companies, with the other 50% split between the marketing and IT sides.

With the new funding, Amperity plans to increase its headcount from 225 to more than 300 employees and open international offices in Australia and Western Europe.

Pitch deck review summary

Slide by slide review

The slide is a bit crowded. Have some negative space on your slide. The font size is a little small in the body and the header size is too large.

I question if they really need to write all these points.

Do not make slides like this in your pitch deck. There is far, far too much going on. You probably just want to put in the diagram with the white background.

Do not write headers like Enterprise scale. Use your big boy words and write a sentence.

The font size under the numbers was designed for people that walk around with magnifying glasses, presumably to incinerate ants when they aren’t doing their favorite thing in the world which is looking at pitch decks.

What does the CDP estimate? How about you do the work and tell me rather than making investors analyse the slide.

The grey box sends the slide into overdrive. Kill that and have the two charts the same size next to one another.

Also don’t screenshot charts. Format them natively. It’s obvious because the colors used are different.

Lol, “awakening”. Like there is about to be a sexual revolution.

WTF is the Cookiepocolypse. This is a super lazy slide.

The deck, or rather the slides that they have shared a pretty lame.
